Joe is a Latino painter and printmaker living in Scottsdale, Arizona - a place with quite a bit of dust, rocks and great sunsets.
Most of Joe's work is reflective of a bi-cultural perspective formed by the Arizona and Mexico region(s), the people living in that region as well as a contemporary Chicano perspective. The work speaks to the Mexicano, the Chicano, the Hispanic and the Gavacho.
Joe is also Creative Director and President of Estudio Ray, a visual branding agency in Phoenix.
Born in San Luis, R.C., Sonora, Mexico in 1958.
Grew up on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation in Poston,
near Parker, Arizona.
Resided there until 1977 before wandering off to college in Yuma, AZ for a year prior to moving to the Phoenix area to attend Arizona State University.
Proud to have been a student of the late Claude Thorn.
